Change We Can Believe In?

From the annals of YKTBFKM comes this little tidbit in this mornings "Reliable Source"

Barack Obama last night, ducking into his first dinner party since moving back to Washington, at the Chevy Chase home of...conservative columnist George Will! Who, it should be noted, was no fierce supporter of the GOP ticket this time. Other right-leaning dinner partners spotted at the gathering, according to pool reports: Bill Kristol, David Brooks.

The reliable gossips added more tidbits later in the day:

Ten guests (all conservative men, according to press reports) including Wall Street Journal's Paul Gigot, Larry Kudlow of CNBC, Rich Lowry of the National Review, Michael Barone of FOX, Charles Krauthammer, William Kristol and David Brooks.

Why? The theory floated today: Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

My first thought was what did the moustache Freidman do to get left out of this august dinner group?

My next thought was this wish. I hope that he threatened each of these boneheads with an all expense paid trip to the CIA black prison of their choice (complete with some specialized physical therapy) unless they weakened the moonbat smack rhetoric they feed their addled right-wing addicts. Who says those nifty unitary executive powers couldn't be used??

Then I wondered if the President had to take an extra-long shower when he returned to the hotel after whoring around with these media tramps?

Thanks to the wonderfulness of Al Gore's internet, I am able to make sense of this only through the sly writings and exceptional illustrations provided by the amazing Driftglass - Everyone Comes to Barack's (Cafe Americaine). (BTW, congrats Drifty on winning the 2008 Weblog Awards for Best Individual Blogger!!!)

Finally, my last gripe is simply this. With the wide plethora of exceptional opinion writers on the Internet, why, oh why, did President Obama not break bread (or perhaps another Ben's Chili Bowl half-smoke) with Glenn Greenwald, Digby & D-Day, any of the First Drafters, Scott Horton or the esteemed COL Pat Lang? All of these folks have been more accurate, more perceptive and repeatedly more connected to America than any so-called journalist/pundit at last night's dinner.

And if BHO did not lay down the law (and the rumors of a meet-up with Rushbo may so indicate).

Like the title says. Last night was not Change We Can Believe In.
